What is Compassion?

According to the dictionary, is ‘showing sympathy, pity and concern for the sufferings of others’
Certain studies reveal that compassion is part genetic and part cultivated. While some people are gifted with innate nature to show and share feelings of compassion towards misfortunes; others take some time to understand this hidden emotion in themselves. To know it one only needs to become self-aware.
In a metropolitan city , people are always fighting for their right, share and space; that many times it becomes hard to display this particular feeling easily. Selfishness and self striven goals dodge into every day lives leaving scarcely any time to contemplate. Here, parents and teachers play a big role for society at large.

Move on # Be True! None of us are not totally unaware of a compassionate feeling within us; though we tend to normally limit its display only to our friends circle and family members. Oh! But it comes naturally to them. Agreed, however if one would just give it a thought, it can be seen that human capacity has a heart inclined to help the unknown unfortunates as well. We need to learn to make use of it in a unlimited way, selflessly serving the under privileged ones.

Many a wise men who have practiced have this to say : Compassion is not charity, it is a way of conduct.

Surely we all have this quality but only need to become aware of it on a daily basis in order to have a peaceful day and a restful night.

INDIA is declaring today as COMPASSION DAY for all of us; so that we can feel genuinely for our lesser privileged workers and staff and clear matters that was hunky-dory or gone wrong in some way. By extending helping hand to our maids, chauffeurs, cleaners, laborers and staff members by asking them what their need is and accordingly supporting them likewise; whether financially ( monetary support for present crisis), legally ( helping set up a insurance policy ) or medically (providing a health check-up facility to their family). I would say don’t even consider on these fixed parameters before considering to make it a genuine effort from the heart to show your feelings of kindness to them.
A good word; said politely in a concerning tone of voice is bound to bounce back energetically and positively reciprocate to your feelings, thus obliterating all negative emotions that erupted in past.
Grab this opportunity at the very minute to dissolve smog of misunderstandings or unworthiness. And there is only benefits in return; a feel good factor and valuable emotion to take back to our account of deeds.

To extract this hidden emotion and to become aware of our ability to be compassionate ; all we have to do is MEDITATE. Meditation is a process of channelizing energy towards the brain that helps to release feel good hormones which are called endorphins. They induce more compassion. You will see a change in attitude and activity. Even one’s ill feelings and negative emotions are transformed into feelings of compassion ( kindness, care and love) by practicing Meditation. So what are you going to do today?

I have decided that I will make a conscious effort. First smile a big smile, create a generous heart then ask my maid when she comes in for work, ” Do you need any kind of help so that I can benefit from the positive energy flowing?” I’m sure she is going to smile back at me and say or rather pour her heart out to me. Then we shall have the entire day to chat along discussing everything that concerns her and her affairs.

Oh, the bell has rung already. She must have arrived. I’ll say Bye to you now.

Take ‘care and Meditate daily just for 20 minutes, especially in the mornings. I do it everyday 😉
