MOTIVATION – Chapter I(Part I)

Success through an Attitude

SUCCESS! Who doesn’t like this word and like being successful in our life? Well, I do and a lot of people who are going to read this compiled motivational article would agree.

As individuals, we have our own set of ideals and goals to pursue. We have our very own set of principles and thought processes that we can direct into desired channels to achieve success. Similarly, as different individuals; we also do have varied wants and needs in our lives. And, anything above our needs or wants are termed as ‘Wealth’. So, wealth  could vary according to different individuals. What is your terminology of wealth? Or do you think that success is only associated with wealth? Lets find out.

To be successful, you would firstly need an attitude. So what is attitude?… It is the way in which you would like to think, while on the road map to achieve your goal or goals. Science, has long before proven that a human brain is binary in function. It utilizes both its left and the right parts in the twenty-four schedule of human activity. Yes, even when asleep. Our dreams are the foothold of our success too. Our mind has an invisible power to attract or repel; something of a charisma, you could say. Keeping your mind on the things you want and off the things, you don’t want; even when you go to sleep. Sounds interesting…

Ironically, we think in more than one ways. Our mind has the power to attract wealth, health, happiness and success; and it has the power to repel these things- to rob you of all that makes life worth living. The first of these powers is generated through a Positive Mental Attitude that enables us to climb to the top and stay there; while the second one keeps us at the bottom all throughout our lives. It is called Negative Mental Attitude that pulls some men down from the top when they have reached it.

Both these attitudes are imprinted on both sides of our mind. If you would turn the positive side up, amazing things would begin to unfurl in the form of opportunities and meetings. And, find that things somehow are beginning to take shape towards your goal of success. Bring into reality those ideas that you daydream.

Choose your goal and head for it!  Be specific. Say to yourself: “This is what I choose and this is what I want to accomplish.  And unless your goal is against the laws of nature or society, you can achieve it” – as quoted in the book, ‘ Success through Positive Mental Attitude’ by W. Clement Stone and Napolean Hill.

There is nothing to lose and something to gain by trying. Success is achieved and maintained by those who keep trying, no matter what situation they are in; and that too, always with a positive frame of mind. What you try is entirely upto you. Not everyone wants to be a billionaire, or a tycoon of a manufacturing concern or even an industrialist.  Not everyone would pay the price of being a great artist. To others, riches of life are quite different. A skill in day-to-day living which adds up to a happy and fun-filled life is success. Or to take up any improvisionary technique to enhance relationships and strengthen them with love-filled life is also success. You can have this and other riches too; the choice is yours. Choose your goal and make honest effort toward it; thus work can become fun when you establish your specific desirable goal. Greatness comes to those who develop a burning desire to achieve high goals.

But whether success to you means becoming rich or the discovery of scientific innovation, or creation of a new poem or music or the growing of a rose or even nurturing a child- no matter what success means to you; the charisma of your mind can help you achieve it and to become an expert achiever in any human activity, it takes practice…practice..practice. You attract the good with positivity and repel them with negativity. And mind you, if you aren’t in control of your power in the initial stages on your road to success; you could be easily rendered as ‘failure’ or ‘has been’. So, remember to make a post-it –“every adversity has the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit” and pin it on the wall. And we aren’t even talking of physical disability here. So ponder over.

Keep your attitude to yourself big – generous and merciful to others. By doing this, we attract big and generous portions of success to ourselves. For this purpose, one could take to seeking guidance from the universe. Man’s greatest power lies in the power of prayer, seeking humility and wisdom.

When Henley wrote the poetic lines, “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul,” he said that we are masters of our fate because we are masters of our attitudes; irrespective of destructive or constructive ones. Our attitudes shape our future and this is a universal law. The law states that we translate into physical reality the thoughts and attitudes which we hold in our minds, no matter what they are. Therefore, it is of primary importance to repel the forces of Negative Mental Attitude to achieve positivity of mind for growth and success. Never underestimate the repellant power of NMA as it can prevent life’s lucky breaks from benefitting you.

Some personal tips :  Start today, start now! Meet yourself with love and joy. Every day when you wake up in the morning, look yourself into the mirror and smile. Love yourself to love others in return. While, you brush your teeth polishing them to shining-whites; think of the day’s activity ahead with a refreshed mind and steer your thoughts by the goals that you want to achieve (success, wealth, health and happiness) by asking yourself these questions below:

  1. How am I going to use the power of my mind?
  2. How can I develop the right mental attitude to be specific for my goal?
  3. How can I develop the habit of positive mental attitude, since it attracts good luck?
  4. Can I develop a burning desire to succeed without blaming anyone?
  5. Do I believe it is proper to ask for divine guidance?
  6. Will I engage in thinking time to determine how you can turn adversities into greater benefits?
  7. Can I convert a failure of one day into success on another? How do you think you can develop inspirational dissatisfaction?
  8. Do I have the courage to aim high and strive daily by continuously working on your goal before you?
  9. Can you love others without being jealous of their success and serve those in need of your help?
  10. Will I be in a position to manage my success without seeping into feeling of a has-been?

This questionnaire is much relevant to me, as it could be to anyone else who wishes to take on the keyboard for a “true-false” or “yes-no” as its answers in the reply box below. In the next part of this motivational chapter, we shall discuss and remind ourselves more. Because the power(PMA & NMA)is consistently working within us and any of it can take an upper-hand by the blink of an eye, if we are not focused. Till then take care with the power of your mind.
